Fast + Easy + Safe - A Pleasure To Break Down Boxes
I use the ceramic blade cutter to break down HUGE piles of boxes. I found the retracting ceramic blade easy to use and effective on the toughest of box break downs. It quickly retracted after each cut ensuring that I would not get cut. I normally wear safety gloves when breaking down boxes but with the retracting blade, cutting myself is no longer a concern. I used to have to place my blade down so I wouldn't get cut but now the retractable ceramic blade can stay in my hand because it is light and the blade isn't out to cut me. It is much faster, lighter, easier and safer from my old box cutters! A pleasure to break down boxes in the warehouse!

Light duty and safe
A handy knife for some applications. The ceramic blade does not feel sharp, but it cuts paper easily. The blade is spring loaded, so that it will not stay out without thumb or finger pressure, so when you set the knife down, you know that the blade is safely stowed away; this could be an issue for some, that might get annoyed with always having to put out energy to keep the blade out, but you get used to it. I wouldn't use this for heavy duty cutting. It doesn't replace a utility knife with razor blades. It would be an excellent knife for opening boxes (cutting the tape... when you usually grab for your keys, etc, ), a quick and easy tool for that.

The Westcott Ceramic Safety Knife is a very fine knife. It is less than an inch wide and just a fraction over six inches in length; the shape is ergonomic and fits the hand very well. The blade extends one half inch from the housing. The built-in blade protection took a minute to understand as you must keep your finger against the blade extension button while in use (this keeps the blade protected incase of an accidental drop as-well-as leaving it exposed between uses).
The knife will cut cardboard but excels at cutting paper, from light to heavy weight, as-well-as craft foam.

Best Utility Cutter Ever!
The Westcott Slice Ceramic Safety Blade Utility Cutter is by far the absolute best Utility Cutter I've ever owned!! It's small and lightweight but powerful. I like the safety feature it has with the retractable blade. The ceramic blade easily slices through the toughest tapes and the plastics that house certain products. It cuts through lightweight cardboard and different types of paper so it's great for crafting projects. I like it so much that I got another one to keep in the garage! I highly recommend this product that I believe will last a long time to come!

Very good, safe ceramic blade utility knife
I received this item to test in exchange for my honest opinion. This ceramic retractable knife is very sharp. It had no problem cutting through tape, thinner plastic, paper, card stock and cardboard. I never used a ceramic blade before, but this certainly seemed just as sharp as a traditional blade. It has safety features, a rounded edge on the blade and a retractable blade button that allows the blade to be extended only when your finger is on the button. The blade goes back into the handle as soon as you release the button. It also has a blade that is reversible to double the lifespan of the blade. It is really a convenient cutter. And a bit safer than the older versions. Great for anything you would use a utility knife for!

A safe knife for your cutting needs
This is my first ceramic cutter. I was very surprised on its ability to cut sharply. It did a very nice job cutting paper. It does feel safer than using a metal utility knife. The blade is a lot smaller than the metal utility knives and you do have to hold the handle down (to have the blade available) in order to cut. There is no switch to have the blade available for long periods of time (that I saw). The item itself is smaller and not as heavy as my metal utility knife. For the classroom or as a hobbyist, the Westcott Ceramic Safety Knife works well for basic cutting needs. For constant cutting and bigger items like cutting thick cardboard boxes, the small blade might not work as well. I would be afraid the blade might break while cutting.

Safety is the benefit.
If safety is the major concern, then this is a perfect box cutter. The idea of a blade being held in place for use is very safe, and a bit uncomfortable. Due to having to hold the blade out with the thumb trigger you can only hold the knife one way, In the palm of your hand. It is uncomfortable to hold in your hand as you would a pencil or a pen. Blade was very sharp and I love the idea of being able to turn it around and have a fresh new blade. Very light weight. I think the addition of a pocket clip would be a big advantage.

Precision…..AND safety!
I love this tool! The bright color makes it easy to spot in my drawer. The handle design fits comfortable in my hand. Not too streamlined or heavy. The ceramic blade is sharp and makes easy precise cuts. I use this with projects for my kindergarteners. I can cut out windows and shapes etc. things I’ve always avoided because I never felt safe using similar tools with flimsy metal blades that didn’t lock in properly or the tip would break off etc. THiS blade is secure , really is sharp , yet feels like safe plastic. Very cool!
