Looks good. Works really well on regular pencils
Nice looking sitting on the desk. Sharpened normal pencils quickly and well. I had no broken leads on graphite pencils I used. The colored pencils I tried ended up about 25% of the leads broken unless I had a very light downward pressure and held them firmly from twisting. I think that is mostly the fault of the colored pencils since I always have trouble with the leads breaking. One thing to be careful of is that when emptying the shavings, the 'bin' is just a cover, so be sure to remove it over the trash can, as the shavings will fall immediately. My assessment is that this sharpener works as well as any, and looks better than most.

Can Be Rough on Pencils
This sharpener works, but you must hold it steady with one hand and hold the pencil with another. It doesn't take too much force, or your pencil will get chewed up. I wouldn't recommend this for younger kids. I love the cute design and will use this on my desk at home. Not as effective as a handheld unit. It works best sitting on a hard surface. I think this will be fine for light use, but wouldn't be durable enough for heavy use. I enjoy the cordless aspect of this product. This is lightweight and very portable for use all over the house. It is easy to clean the cup that holds the shavings fits well, but is easy to remove and empty.

Cute and functional!
Upon opening the packaging, I was immediately impressed by how cute this pencil sharpener is. It sits upright and looks very nice on the desk. It sharpens pencils quite nicely and isn't overly noisy. It's very easy to empty, but I strongly recommend you follow the included directions and empty over the trash can because the reservoir for collecting the shavings is quite shallow, holding 2-3 pencils worth of shavings, and can make a little mess if you're not right over the trash can when you empty it. I love that it has four little grippy feet so it doesn't move unless you want it to. Overall, I really like this sharpener.

Cordless Lifestyle
If you are a “pencil driver” wanting to improve your “cordless” lifestyle, this sharpener is a great addition to your accessories. It sharpens easily and quickly and leaves a very smooth roundness to your pencils. Although the pencil shavings do stay in the receptacle, the receptacle should not be removed from the sharpener unless it is over your desired dump site (trash can, etc). The receptacle also seems to be too easily removed from the sharpener. Making unintentional removal a significant possibility. After only a couple of weeks, and a few dozen sharpenings, the 4 AA batteries have not yet required replacement.

Powerful and Sharp
I've tried several battery-operated sharpeners and never found one that I liked. I was buying all electric sharpeners because they gave me the sharp point I need when I'm drawing. This one shocked me. It's powerful and it gives me a sharp point that doesn't break off as soon as I push down on the paper when I start drawing. I sharpen my pencils quite often when I'm drawing and the power has remained the same since I added new batteries. The color of the sharpener is awesome and looks like it belongs on my end tables unlike my huge electric sharpener. This also saves room on my table. I would definitely recommend this battery operated sharpener. It's well made and gets the job done.

Looks like an apple!
This smart looking pencil sharpener is held easily in one's hand, and after putting in 4 double AA batteries, I inserted a small color pencil that needed sharpening. The I-point Ball sharpener definitely sharpened the pencil, not quickly but steadily and gave the pencil a nice point. The I-point is not as fast as some of Westcott's other pencil sharpeners, but the advantage is that it is not heavy and quite portable. It is easily carry able in a backpack and is quite convenient. For someone who wants a portable powered pencil sharpener, the I-Point Ball sharpener is a good solution.

Check out this great Westcott sharpener!
The Westcott ipoint Ball Battery Pencil Sharpener is an amazing product! The lightweight and compact design makes it easy to carry along in a bag and it is cordless! I have used it for sharpening lead pencils and colored pencils. It is easy to use and doesn't make a mess. The shavings go into the bottom container and you can see when it is time to empty. The automatic shut off works well when you remove the shavings so no one can use it without the container. The non-slip surface keeps it in one place as you sharpen. I highly recommend this Westcott sharpener.

Can parts (blades) be purchased for the ipoint ball pencil sharpener. I know that it is a relatively inexpensive item however everything is priced double or more in Bermuda, where I reside. I would like to know how I can purchase replacement parts.

How do the batteries go in. Does a plus sign mean that the plus on the battery is up?
The plus indicates the positive side of the battery and the minus side indicates the negative (flat) side of the battery.
