Which Way to a Happy Ending?
Students map out the routes in favorite fairy tales with this activity. After they complete their maps, have students write questions about their maps and provide answer keys. Then each student trades maps with a partner to practice map-reading skills!

Step 1
Choose a favorite fairy tale. On the bulletin board paper, plan a route that resembles settings in the story.
Step 2
Cut and glue construction paper scraps to illustrate the settings. Add marker details.
Step 3
Draw a compass rose, a key, and a scale on paper scraps and glue them to the map.
Step 4
Cut the edges of the map so it appears to have been saved from fairy-tale times!
Adult supervision is recommended when children use scissors.
