Greatest Kitchen Scissors in Existence
I have gone through kitchen scissors like butter, almost. It's so frustrating to buy the cheap ones, watch them rust through (just with normal washing/drying), then buy the expensive ones, and watch them rust through a tiny bit more slowly. I had a pair that came apart for washing that lasted a while, but I was somehow always managing to drop one part while trying to use them (because I'm lame, apparently).
I was gifted a lovely knife set from Walmart, which I still use, and which is in great condition, except for the scissors, which died in about 2 months. I was so mad. I went to Walmart, and because I was in a hurry and frustrated, I just grabbed some promising craft scissors to use 'temporarily'.
Those promising craft scissors were these Wescott ones. 'Temporarily' has become about a year and a half now, and the only wear on the scissors is some scratches on the blade (purely cosmetic). I wash them and leave them open to dry, and no rust. No seizing. No gapping. Not one smidge of trouble in a year and a half, and even if they do die someday (which there are no signs that they will), it is well worth it. Provided I can always find these or something similar, I will likely use these for the rest of my life. Who knew kitchen scissors don't need to be forever destined for the trash can? Just buy these!

Would the 8" craft scissor be the best product for cutting heavy leather material, up to 1/4 " thickness ?
