Safe Ceramic Blade!
The Westcott ceramic box cutter with Slice technology is a handy tool to have for cutting cardboard, opening boxes and other cutting chores. I was familiar with Slice ceramic blades which I saw at various trade shows. The blades are sharp but it's hard to get cut by them. They stay sharper longer and are replaceable. The self retracting blade ensures there won't be accidental cuts and blade replacement is easy. The plastic body is durable and fits nicely in your hand and the bright green color makes it easy to find.

Decent Little package opener.
For a safety knife this is adequate. I've used it for about a month opening packages and breaking down boxes. Its sharp but it doesn't seem to have that tooth that a new utility blade has. I know this has the rounded tip but even when slicing paper it doesn't seem to have that bite. For opening packages and letters this would be fantastic, also cutting vinyl would be amazing but for cardboard boxes not so much. I think this also due to the fact that it has a very slim handle. For myself I would like a larger handle.

Great household product
It's always nice to have a quality safety knife around as you find you need it more often than not. I love the Westcott ceramic safety knife to help with those times of need. The blade is useful for a number of crafts, projects and opening boxes. The color has made it easy to find in a toolbox or junk drawer. I have a sense of calm when I use it and set it around the house because the retracting blade safety feature keeps me and others without cuts. It comes with a strong blade and easy to grip in the hand.

Open your cardboard boxes with this Ceramic Blade
The product is packaged in a very heavy duty plastic card
The knife itself is lightweight and sharp.
Retractable feature is nice for safety.
Blade only extends about 1/2 inch.
Best to use on cardboard.
Like the ceramic for no rust.

Pretty cool little utility knife
I use a lot of regular utility knives. I have one in several drawers/toolkits, so handy. I really like the idea of this one for it's small size and ceramic blade, but I really wish it locked in the forward (blade out) position. I was very surprised that it didn't, and that fact really limits it's usefulness, as you have to hold the top button forward while using the knife. I'd really like to hold it like a pen for fine, detailed work, but I can't push the blade out in that position. This is not a huge limitation for coarser work like opening boxes and packaging, but that's where a full-size utility knife works well too. It seems like they missed an opportunity here, but th knife is still useful and the reversible ceramic blade means you may never have to sharpen or replace the blade.

Good knife for opening things
The Westcott Ceramic knife cuts very well. However it is very difficult to cut some well holding the button down. I know this is for my own saftey. Just wish there was a different way to hold the button down.

No Metal Blade
The blade is ceramic means that it makes it a bit harder to hurt yourself or someone else by accident. Another safety feature is that you must push the black piece forward to expose the blade, so you'll never hurt someone by accident.
Amazon Christmas boxes were no match for the blade. The slice and dice blade effortlessly cut thru all packing tape with ease.

Westcott's Perfect Box/Package Opener
I love this product! I teach K-12 and have to be really careful about having knives in my classroom, but the Westcott Ceramic Safety Cutter has ceramic blades that are skin safe (not impossible to cut yourself, but pretty difficult) and the blade does not lock in the open position. The vibrant neon green color makes it easy to find and see from a distance, even my colorful classroom. I always need to open packages at work and this will be my constant companion for the job.

This knife was a surprise.
This knife was a surprise. I have never seen a knife with a ceramic blade and was amazed at how well it cut. The knife is lightweight and easy to hold. It comes with one blade that is reversible. It has easy access to the blade compartment for blade replacement. With this knife, you slide and hold the button to move the blade into cutting position. My personal preference is for the blade to lock into into place for cutting. Overall, this is a great knife.

Great blade!
We have to test for Iron in the water at work, the reagent comes in plastic pillows. Having a ceramic blade instead of a steel blade has made my life so much easier. If a steel blade hits the liquid inside it's unusable. We have had blades that were ceramic coated before but this blade being made entirely of ceramic works fantastic. It is sharp enough to easily cut through plastic. The automatic retraction of the blade is great for safety. Would recommend!

Safe and durable
This ceramic knife is a great alternative to the standard metal knives that feel like they will rust easily. The safety feature is really nice; when you are not pushing up the blade, it retracts back so that the knife will never be left exposed. This makes the knife feel very safe to have around the house with kids or pets. Even if you were to drop the knife, you wouldn't have to worry about getting cut from the blade, since it would retract.

Safe way for my kids to open boxes!
This is a really unique solution to opening boxes at my house. This utility knife is fantastic to safely open boxes at home and the ceramic retractable blades are great for my kids to use and knowing they won't hurt themselves. I would highly recommend everyone getting a few of these to have around the house to safely open packages as it is surprisingly sharp when cutting but, won't break my skin. A real innovative product from Westcott.

Great Product!
I used this product to get ready for the new school year. As a teacher we are required to pack up our room so classrooms can be waxed for the upcoming school year. I used it to unpack all the cardboard boxes in my classroom. The product is lightweight and easy to use. The feature that I like the most is that the blade is non-locking. There is no risk of cutting myself because the blade automatically retracts back inside. Great Product!

Safe little cutter
This works well for me on small cutting jobs. Now, the blade doesn’t stay/lock out so you do need to hold it out during use, but this isn’t an issue for me and safer. Just used it to trim the heavy command strip velcro in a tough small spot after the item was mounted, and it did the job perfectly. And also on the normal boxes, tape, etc. Nice little tool to have around for the smaller things that don’t require needing the blade locked.

Convenient Cutter
I started using this around the holidays to open all the boxes and gifts I ordered. After my kids unwrapped their presents, this was great for opening all the hard plastic packaging that wrecks my scissors. I highly recommend and think these would be great little gifts. We use this knife all the time to open packages and mail. I'm thinking about buying a spare. I don't mind holding it open to cut because it seems safer.

Westcott Ceramic Safety Knife is the one to have!
The Westcott Ceramic Safety Knife is a must have for crafters and hobbyists. This knife has great features including the automatic retraction with a button and the ability to carry it easily in your pocket. I used this for cutting several things including paper, cardstock, and cardboard and it worked well each time. Safety knife may sacrifice durability
Small light-duty craft knife has safety features most similar type knives don't have. My concern is these same safety features may reduce the longevity and functionality of the knife. I like the ceramic blade but question it's durability. I prefer a more substantial handle than the light-weight plastic handle used. Should be OK for light crafting use, but not as a box cutter, though it resembles one.

New favorite box cutter
I really thought this would not be great. I am so HAPPY I tried it out. This is my new favorite box cutter. First thing I did taking the cap off is stabbing my finger on accident and it did not cut me! Amazing. It cut right through the cardboard like butter, did not need not use too much pressure. I cut a lot of cardboard too and it was just as good on the last piece as it was on the first.

Ceramic Cutter
The Westcott slice safety cutter has taken box opening to a new level. The utility cutter features a retractable blade. It is not your ordinary metal box cutter. Its a ceramic blade which makes this blade so user friendly. Great utility knife
Good small utility knife. Used this knife for a wide range of things. Boxcutter, exact cut for thin wood, model building, fabric, rope, and many more. This is a good blade to keep in your pocket/apron/tool belt for many different jobs. I would not use this for heavy construction (shingles, carpet, etc) but just about anything else will fall to its razorness!

Basic Ceramic Safety Knife
Comfortable to grip in my hand, it's not large so great for smaller hands. Ceramic blade does not stay out unless pressure is placed on device to keep it out. Very lightweight. Overall decent for a ceramic knife. For speed and efficiency I'm not sure it will be my go to. I can't hold the device perfectly everytime with my thumb to keep the blade out.

Slender design perfect big jobs/smaller hands
This is a great little tool that fits easily in your pocket and fits more comfortably in small hands. I love the slender design and of course, it cuts great! I realized that I was constantly losing my cutter by setting it down somewhere and then searching around to figure out where I left it. This slender cutter fits in almost any pocket, i love it!

Lightweight and sharp
This is a cool twist on a standard box cutter. The slim, lightweight cutter fits well in the hand. The sharp ceramic blade is print loaded to stay safely retracted when not in use. A simple slide of the thumb extends the blade for cutting and immediately retracts when you're finished. Ceramic stays sharp much longer than traditional still blades.

My now go-to box cutter
I had not heard of a ceramic safety knife before this product. Now, I am glad that I have...this safety knife makes opening boxes a breeze. It has made this time of year, when we get multiple boxes a day with Christmas presents, a lot easier. I especially like the retractable feature where it automatically retracts after you let go of the slide.

Sharp ceramic blade
The ceramic blade is extremely sharp. I have been able to use it as a box cutter and to open blister packs. It cuts through the packaging effortlessly. The ceramic blade does retract automatically as you release the sliding button. Therefore, you can conveniently carry it with you and you don’t need to worry about the blade (cutting by mistake).

Smart Retractable Knife
What a great tool and even better design! I love the way the blade retracts when you are done with it and there is no way you could accidentally cut yourself when reaching for it. Once you release the thumb button it retracts into the handle out of the way and you don't have a cap that you could possible lose as with other craft knives.

Convenient box cutter
I keep this in a kitchen drawer for opening the inevitable Amazon. It cuts as well as stainless steel, but it doesn't corrode and the blade stays clean. It lost a star because the blade does not lock in the open position. I suppose this is a safety feature; the blade cannot accidently be left exposed, but I would still like the option.

This ceramic knife is an interesting product. I would have never thought that it would be this useful. It really helps when opening packages. It only cut the tape and not through the product. My only complaint would be when using is that you have to press harder than you do with a regular box cutter. Overall, I am happy this cutter.

Fine slicer.
This blade is sharp and rugged. While using it in my garage, I was able to cut through some thick automotive sound deadener, and carpet with ease. The handle has a good feel and allows you to use some force without fear you're going to slice your fingers off. I like that it is a solid feel housing, versus a loose metallic type.

Comfortable, safe razor sharp cutting tool.
Did not disappoint. I wanted a more convenient but safer cutting tool for minor kitchen cutting tasks eg. paper, plastic, cardboard storage containers. I had used a razor blade but was uncomfortable with the grandkids being curiouseing retractable and being very sharp to fit the bill precisely. Thanks for the design
