Fast + Easy + Safe - A Pleasure To Break Down Boxes
I use the ceramic blade cutter to break down HUGE piles of boxes. I found the retracting ceramic blade easy to use and effective on the toughest of box break downs. It quickly retracted after each cut ensuring that I would not get cut. I normally wear safety gloves when breaking down boxes but with the retracting blade, cutting myself is no longer a concern. I used to have to place my blade down so I wouldn't get cut but now the retractable ceramic blade can stay in my hand because it is light and the blade isn't out to cut me. It is much faster, lighter, easier and safer from my old box cutters! A pleasure to break down boxes in the warehouse!

Light duty and safe
A handy knife for some applications. The ceramic blade does not feel sharp, but it cuts paper easily. The blade is spring loaded, so that it will not stay out without thumb or finger pressure, so when you set the knife down, you know that the blade is safely stowed away; this could be an issue for some, that might get annoyed with always having to put out energy to keep the blade out, but you get used to it. I wouldn't use this for heavy duty cutting. It doesn't replace a utility knife with razor blades. It would be an excellent knife for opening boxes (cutting the tape... when you usually grab for your keys, etc, ), a quick and easy tool for that.

Ceramic Utility Cutter
We needed a box cutter, and until recently I hadn't known there are ceramic utility cutters on the market. With the Westcott Ceramic Safety Utility Cutter, I can easily cut through boxes, paper, and packages with a minimum of effort. The fact that it is ceramic is a safety plus, as it is very difficult to cut oneself. The blade is reversable and replaceable, another plus. The Westcoff Utility cutter is light in the hand, has a good feel, and works very well. Even the green color is soft on the eyes. I would definetly recomment the Westcott Ceramic Safety Utility Cutter for home or office; it is a nice tool.

The Westcott Ceramic Safety Knife is a very fine knife. It is less than an inch wide and just a fraction over six inches in length; the shape is ergonomic and fits the hand very well. The blade extends one half inch from the housing. The built-in blade protection took a minute to understand as you must keep your finger against the blade extension button while in use (this keeps the blade protected incase of an accidental drop as-well-as leaving it exposed between uses).
The knife will cut cardboard but excels at cutting paper, from light to heavy weight, as-well-as craft foam.

Made for opening packages
I almost gave this a 5 because it works fine for cutting the tape on packages, which I guess is the only intended use. As an adult, I'm not crazy about safety features, such as the blade not locking into the cutting position. There is a button on the back that simply says "push." It took me a minute to figure this is only for changing the blade, not for securing the blade. I thought it might be good for craft cutting, but the retracting blade makes it difficult, and it doesn't cut with precision on thick stock. Overall, it's a handy little tool for opening packages.

Best Utility Cutter Ever!
The Westcott Slice Ceramic Safety Blade Utility Cutter is by far the absolute best Utility Cutter I've ever owned!! It's small and lightweight but powerful. I like the safety feature it has with the retractable blade. The ceramic blade easily slices through the toughest tapes and the plastics that house certain products. It cuts through lightweight cardboard and different types of paper so it's great for crafting projects. I like it so much that I got another one to keep in the garage! I highly recommend this product that I believe will last a long time to come!
