Westcott's X-Ray Pencil Sharpeners were developed with a transparent design that makes sharpening fun! The battery operated pencil sharpener's durable stainless steel blade quickly sharpens standard size pencils to the finest point. The easy-view shavings reservoir makes it fun and easy to see when it's time to remove the shavings. The compact design makes it easy to keep on the desk, in a locker or in a backpack. This pencil sharpener operates on two AA batteries (which are sold separately).

Mighty Workhorse
Initially was not floored by the style and couldn't see any instructions for type of batteries to use and couldn't open the battery access to check. Had to enlist help as package didn't have any instructions printed out. Once batteries were installed, I went to town sharpening an assortment # 2 type pencils with different leads inside (Coloring pencils and drawing pencils, too.)
Impressed with the power and fit of sharpener in my palm and how it gave uniform pencil points regardless of thickness and hardness. Sooo convenient and glad to have the cover to capture the shavings and the safety feature of battery disengaged when cover is open or removed! Can be safely used by little people hands without worrying about any injuries to explore the spinning sharpener behind the cover - BONUS ! Two AA batteries were able to sharpen 3 dozen pencils beautifully. Caution: Just be aware that the batteries start to wear with more than 24 pencils continuously.
A MIGHTY little sharpener to keep handy around the office or crafts table. I'm taking it to the public library to show it off to the adults and kids that I work with to do their math practice !!!
Shows lots of thought went into the design and productivity of this tool. An asset for the classroom especially where mounted pencil sharpeners are an endangered species if not extinct but a must have survival item !!!

Love the XRAY Capabilities
This pencil sharpener works great and sharpenens great but the neat feature here is you get to see the pencil actually sharpening! The colors are also very cool and it's a winner in my household.

See-Thru Sharpener
Interesting sharpener with a view of the internal workings. It does the job but you have to hold onto the sharpener to keep it from spinning out of you hand.

Cute, great for kids
Cute and functional. I think it would work well with the younger ages with the colors and mechanics. It works, I don't know if it is the best for daily use.

How do you put the pencil sharpener back together. Mind dropped one time so I bought a new one and I wanted to swap the big plastic piece on the new one and now I can’t fit the metal pieces in right. How do I fix it?
We do not recommend taking apart our sharpeners for safety reasons.

How do you load the batteries?
To load the batteries in, please flip the pencil sharpener upside down, there should be a plastic latch which you can lift up which opens the battery compartment.

How do you open the container to empty shavings
The X-Ray has a door by the sharpening device that can be pulled out.
