Really Sharp Points
I purchased this at Sam's club and I thought it was a good price. I am an artist who uses colored pencils a lot. I am always having problems getting my pencils really sharp. This sharpener works well for this. I like the fact that it will stop when the pencil gets to it's point. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is easy to dump the shavings but it is very difficult to clean the inside of the cover. Other than that, it is a great sharpener.

Does what it should.
It works great and has a small form factor, so it doesn't hog your desk. It's nice that the whole thing can be unplugged (just hold the cord with something else so you don't have to re-tuck it behind your desk), because when you go to dump the shavings, you really have to, since the shavings cup has a hole on the bottom to enable vertical sharpening. It's a slight down-side, but it's not annoying.
I'm here though because I broke a pencil tip or something in my sharpener and now the auto-start/stop is working very erratically... I was hoping to find some answers, but I guess I'll just unplug and take it apart soon. Saw all the bad reviews and thought this could use a boost, since apparently people don't leave reviews on brand websites unless they're unhappy (true of many brands it seems).
It's worked great for a year, and I'm the guy who likes writing with sharp pencil tips, so it's very handy. If I can't fix it, I'll see if Costco will replace it.

My ipoint electric sharpener just stopped working after over 2 years. I used it often to sharpen pencils for the classroom so I went through a ton of pencils a day. I am surprised another customer got a dud because mine was great.

Our sharpener no longer turns off when the pencil is removed. It has to be unplugged in order to get it to stop running. Is there anything we might be able to do to fix this? There are no visible obstructions in the sharpener.

How can I make my sharpener sharpen and stop squeaking?
If the pencil sharpener is not sharpening at all, then we suggest filing a warranty claim.

Here are some tips to try and improve sharpener performance.
One tip we can suggest is that if colored pencils were sharpened, sometimes the lead can deposit a waxy buildup. If you sharpen a series of regular no. 2 pencils, the graphite lead and wood shavings of this type can at times help to remove some buildup. While this may not definitely resolve a dullness issue, in case this usage applies to you, we hope that this suggestion might assist with improving performance.

This pencil sharpener takes the standard sized pencils. Jumbo pencils are not recommended for this product.

Our sharpener blade seems to have gotten dull. Can we get a replacement? The rest of the unit works fine, but it takes forever to sharpen a pencil ; if you push harder it chews up the wood.

Anyone know how to clear the chamber? I'm guessing a chunk or tip of coloring pencil broke off inside and fell into the auto-start/stop sensor, and is jamming it! I'm probably just gonna unplug, unscrew, and poke with paper clip until I find the thing.

I previously purchased a battery operated ipoint orbit but do not like the straight blade that came with it. It looks like the electric version has a rotary spiral cutter from the pictures. Is this correct and if so will it fit in the battery unit?
