Not your mom's pencil sharpener
I was very impressed by the slick design of the Westcott IPoint ball battery pencil sharpener. This is very functional to have in our house with school-age boys. They have a lot of fun searching through the house for dull pencils to sharpen just so they can use this. The sharpener is very mobile, being battery-operated, and so easy to use. It has a powerful feel and sharpens pencils within seconds. Clean-up is easy as long as you empty the shaving container over a trash can.
Hoping that there are even more colors to choose from to give as teacher gifts.

Perfect Sized Pencil Sharpener!
This is a handy battery powered pencil sharpener to have on hand. It takes up little to no space on my desk, which is a plus, for sure. The Westcott iPoint Ball Battery Pencil Sharpener works well and quickly sharpens pencils without having to worry about a cord/nearby outlet. Makes perfect pencil tips all the time.
This came at the perfect time as I have a daughter in the second grade. She must have sharpened over a hundred pencils since receiving this sharpener. Battery life seems to be good as it is running strong on the same set of batteries since receiving this product which was a month ago. Its does what they advertise sharpen pencils. I like that it has a nice heft to it. The construction seems very good. I expect this product to last for the rest of my daughters educational years. I would even use this in a professional setting as well.

The iPoint BALL is a great pencil sharpener. It’s features twin metal blades and is powered by four AA batteries (not included.) The points are sharp and works quickly. Being a small sharpener you need to hold it when you sharpen but this is normal for small sharpeners. The shavings container should only be removed when you were over a trash receptacle, as it is open on the back. It sharpens standard pencils, drawing pencils and even colored pencils quite well. It’s size fits easily on a desk, a drawer or shelf

The family sharpener!
We call it the apple at my house, everybody uses this sharpener. Its quiet, sharp. and the batteries last for a very long time. Its great for regular graphite pencils or colored pencils. Its also easy to empty without making a huge mess.

This is a darling sharpener. It requires 4 AA batteries to operate.The sharpener works well, and it is compact. When you are removing the pencil shavings, make sure it is over the garbage can. It did a fine job sharpening all my pencils!

This sharpener is well made and withstood many hours of use. I was impressed with its ability to sharpen for an extended period of time without overheating. The battery power was stronger than I anticipated. Just wish it was plug in.

Pencil sharpener on the go.
A battery powered pencil sharpener in the era of digital tablets. Is this the definition of an anachronism? I admit it’s been some time since I sharpened a pencil. I was struggling to find relevance for this little guy. Which happens to be red and sort of looks like an apple when it hit me. Maybe I don’t sharpen pencils often but school teachers and students still do. There is a place in our modern world for these chewers of wood and graphite. Hmm, maybe that’s why it’s red and apple shaped?

It didn't take me long to find out that even though small...this pencil sharper would be perfect for my desk in my classroom. I sharpened every pencil I tried in it...cheap...expensive... it just didn't matter.

Great sharpener for its size!
Great little sharpener! I love it's unobtrussive footprint and the fact its batter powered means I can bring it anywhere I want. I have sharpened a couple pencils and so far I haven't needed to empty it yet. Conservatively you probably could chew through 2 or 3 pencils before needing to empty it. It takes 4 AA batteries which so far seem to be holding up. I did have a little trouble getting the battery door on after putting the batteries in but with some manipulation I got the door closed.

Good sharpener for home use!
I thought this sharpener was great for home use. My family uses it a few times a week to sharpen colored pencils and regulate pencils. It was quick and the results was a smooth sharpened point. I did find that when sharpening some colored pencils it would jam a little, but a firmer grip was all it needed. The kids needed some help when this occurred. I don't think it is a great sharpener for classroom use as I can foresee it jamming quickly. I am happy with it for my home use.

Sharpens pencils Quickly
I received this free product to try. The Wescott iPoint Ball Pencil Sharpener did a good job of sharpening pencils. It wasn't too noisy. The only thing I didn't care for was that you have to hold the base when inserting a pencil or it the base of the sharpener will spin and then will not sharpen the pencil.
Since it is battery operated, it is portable which is nice when moving from room to room.
As a teacher, it worked well enough to quickly sharpen students' pencils.

Absolutely love it!
I love this pencil sharpener.
It's an attractive shape and color and doesn't take up a lot of room on the desk.
I have had others that were larger and didn't look as nice sitting on my desk.
It seems to last a very long time on a set of batteries.
My niece and I use it often for regular pencils as well as colored pencils for art.
It gives a nice sharp point that helps keep your artwork neat and tidy.
It seems to be high quality and will last a long time.

The Power Sharpener That Keeps Going!
Give the boys a pencil sharpener... and they will break out the boxes of new pencils and sharpen them ALL! The unit was super easy to use.. put in the four AA batteries and you are off and running! My son started sharpening all of the pencils in the kitchen drawer.. and proceeded to pull out over 100 more pencils and sharpened them ALL on one set of batteries! The blade on the unit did as well on the 105th pencil as it did on the first!

Works great even without the batteries
It works great even without batteries. I like having a sharp pencil when doing interior carpentry work. I would always just use a utility knife to sharpen and it doesn’t work anywhere close to how great this Westcott Sharpener works. I don’t have to worry about the pencil shavings making a mess because they stay in sharpener until I empty it I keep this in my work truck and sometimes put it in tool pouch when doing a lot of trim

Small Sharpener for a Small Workspace
This is a great, small sized sharpener for a desk top. I have a small work area at home for my home office and this pencil sharpener is perfect for it. It does not take up much space compared to the full sized sharpeners out there and still performs well. I would give it a 5 star review, but on the first time using it my pencil got stuck. It has not happened since, so it may have been user error.

iPoint Ball Battery Pencil Sharpener
Love this sharpener! It's bigger than it looks. The size of a big apple. It works beautifully and wonderfully, and it is worth the price. Battery operated so it can go wherever the kids are working. It is sturdy and it doesn't move all over the table when in use. This little machine does an excellent job sharpening pencils. It was easy to clean. It goes where you need it and doesn't weigh a ton.

Easy, Powerful and Handy
This little sharpener produces a quick, needle point tip on any pencil. Works like any good electric sharpener, but is small and easily transported. The motor is powerful and it sharpens your pencil in only a few seconds. The cup holds enough volume for a few sharpenings and easily removes for emptying. *NOTE: Hold both the sharpener and cup over the trash can when emptying to avoid a mess.

iPoint Ball is on Point!
Oh, my little sharpner that could! This is the best battery operated sharpener I have used. It sharpens really fast. I sharpened 24 pencils in less than 3 minutes. My students always break my sharpners because they stick them in wrong or try to sharpen crayons. They get it all day to use the sharpener. The iPoint will stay on my desk and the little 2nd graders will not use it. :-)

The Apple Of My...
Great idea for a pencil sharpener! Ha! A battery powered pencil sharpener, and it works! What an awesome age we live in! Sharpens the heck out of pencils and colored pencils alike. I bet I could sharpen a pen with it if I wanted to... But I wouldn't. Bonus is that it looks like an apple someone brought the teacher. As a home school dad, this is great! Sharpens symmetrically!
The best thing about this pencil sharpener is that it sharpens symmetrically without having to remove the pencil in and out to get a all around point. That has always been one of my biggest complaints with pencil sharpeners; the inability to sharpen on the first go. And I can use it with only one hand, which comes in handy when working on art projects. It stays put, too.

Well look at it. It's beautiful... and it does sharpen pencils. Like all power sharpeners, it sounds a bit like a dentist drill, but I have yet to find a quiet one. This sharpener makes the sharpest points of any I have tried. There are two drawbacks that kept me from giving it a full five points: it cannot accommodate even a slightly oversized pencil, and it requires two hands to operate. A standard sized hexagonal pencil fits with little room to spare, but I have some round pencils that are ever so slightly larger, and the hole of the sharpener is just too small. Maybe that tight fit is why the point is so sharp, so not all bad. The two handed operation: I set the sharpener on my desk and inserted the pencil; the sharpener started spinning... not just the gears, the whole sharpener, case and all. In general, it looks and works great, but one hand has to hold the pencil, and the other hand has to hold the sharpener down.

Very quiet!
I was impressed by how quickly this sharpener worked and how quietly it functioned. This pencil sharpener was high quality and is durable. It does require four batteries so make sure to have those on hand when you open your package to have it work right away. The sharpener is well weighted so that it doesn't slide around on the desk as you sharpen your pencils.

The Westcott iPoint Ball Pencil Sharpener is stylish and easy to use! It is battery operated and has two blades so it sharpens pencils fast and evenly. It's easy to empty but you definitely need to hold it over a trashcan. I like the rubberized spots on the bottom that keep the pencil sharpener in place! I definitely recommend purchasing this pencil sharpener!

Compact and works great
This would be a great sharpener for kids on a road trip, etc. It does a great job, but I don’t know how long the battery will last. This is not a replacement for a classroom, etc, but on a personal desk where it won’t be used a lot, or, again, on a road trip with your kids and you want them to have sharp pencils for homework, drawing, etc.

Nice looking on my desk and works great
Heavy enough so it sits where you put it, No skid traction on the bottom so it stays put, and sharpens awesomely. The little compartment that holds the pencil shreds comes out easily enough but stays where it is suppose to meanwhile. This is probably my new favorite sharpener. Looks good on my desk as well, looks kind of like an apple.

More power than I expected!
This iPoint Ball pencil sharpener by Westcott performed very well. It has lots more power than I expected for a battery operated pencil sharpener. After inserting the four AA batteries and replacing the cover, I sat the sharpener upright. When I tried to sharpen the first pencil, there was so much power that the pencil rotated in my hand! It has non-slip pads on the bottom which helped the sharpener stay in position. I had to grasp the pencil really tightly to keep it from rotating when sharpening. I sharpened six pencils one after the other with no issues. Each pencil was just as sharp as the first pencil. The sharpener has a built-in bin to catch the pencil shavings. It does catch everything and is easy to open. Make sure you only open the bin over a trash can--there is not a back to keep the shavings from flying out. The compact size and bright red color make this sharpener very appealing. I highly recommend the iPoint Ball by Westcott!

Good Basic Pencil Sharpener
So let my nephew sharpen his pencils in this to 'test' it. Sharpened well, no issues. Works well in a home setting. I can't imagine it would last in an office or classroom due to size and dynamics. For now it has a spot in the drawer for when my nephew is over doing his homework. Perk it's less messy than a manual small sharpener.

I love it....it is a MUST have!
I've tried this modernized version of a battery operated pencil sharpener and I find that it gives you a fine, robust point quickly. It easily and ideally deposits the wood shavings in a discrete container in a clean, easy to collect way. And you can sharpen your pencils quickly and efficiently. I love it, it is a must have.

Can parts (blades) be purchased for the ipoint ball pencil sharpener. I know that it is a relatively inexpensive item however everything is priced double or more in Bermuda, where I reside. I would like to know how I can purchase replacement parts.

How do the batteries go in. Does a plus sign mean that the plus on the battery is up?
The plus indicates the positive side of the battery and the minus side indicates the negative (flat) side of the battery.

Hi Westcott, it was good for the first 50 pencils. But then i found the pencil tip cannot be sharpened. I have replaced the batteries but it's still the same. How do you suggest to revamp it as good as before? Thanks!
